Today was day 1 of our work on the elephant Sanctuary. It began at 0800 hours when we cleaned up the shit from 6 elephants over the course of 24 hours.  The sheer size and quantity is enough to awe any fan of natural fertilizer.  After two hours, we and a handful of other workers were complete.

Next was an interesting opportunity for me to get “present”. The owner of the sanctuary was doing some makeshift podiatrist work on one of the elephants (who in a previous life stepped on a freaking land mine of all things and injured a foot that is steadily recovering.) He had me feed single slices of banana to her as a distraction so he could do his work.  This went on for 5 minutes and I can say, nothing else came into my mind except to keep those bananas going into her trunk.

We will see what tomorrow brings...
