We started the day digging for baby crabs in the sand (a portion of the standard fare for sea turtles) - it is a little like treasure hunting if the treasure is a 1 - 2 inch critter with pincers. My Zodiac sign is Cancer so I had mixed emotions about the whole thing.
Then we got to work making the sea turtles as comfortable as possible before they get to go out and do great things in the sea. We fed them the baby crabs which the turtles ate with precision and speed. (A full grown sea turtle can snap your arm in two with its bite. So you have been warned.)
We cleaned their homes which are like a 4 foot by 4 foot bathtub. This involved cleaning their coral, toys and the entire tub with toothbrushes. Had some West Point PTSD for a moment.
Then we cleaned the turtles themselves and the little guys pack a punch with their fins when you hold them.
They seemed pretty happy afterwards and so was I.
Off to clean trash again...
