Today we started our work which included an orientation to the project.  We received some basic knowledge about sea turtles (of which I know next to nothing) (There are only 7 species of Sea Turtles, they mate when the female is 20, and they always come back to the place where they were hatched to lay their own eggs!!!)

Our duties, In no particular order, include cleaning the turtles, cleaning the facility, cleaning the beach and feeding the turtles.  We also work with the local community to improve their eco habits.

Right now, they are terrible and the island is getting dirtier by the minute.

We cleaned the beach for a little over an hour.

This is the amount of garbage bags we were able to fill:

It is easy to think “what difference does the work we are doing  make?” But if hope lies with unbridled youth, we have a shot.  There is still plenty of that in my fellow volunteers.

I'd LOVE to hear your Comment below!

I connect people to the truth of market places and human behavior and I have a little fun with it.  I am currently traveling the world writing my second book and blogging about my experience. I look forward to getting to know you and encourage you to post your feedback in the comment section of this blog.

Thank you!
